Jane Sullivan is an artist inspired by the medieval period, but who creates works of calligraphy and illumination of the 21st century. She is also a specialist of Celtic design, a fantasy artist and an author. Her books are published by Dessain & Tolra/ Larousse (Paris), Pauper Press (New York) and Cambridge University Press (UK). From 2014 to 2018 she created an illuminated version of the Psalms in the French translation of the monks of the Abbaye of Ligugé, which was subsequently self-published in a Limited Edition of 500 signed and numbered copies. At present, she is working on the four Gospels in the classic "King James Version", for Cambridge University Press. For this project, Jane is using her favourite calligraphic script, a "bâtarde française", complemented by her own original style of illumination. The Gospel of Saint John was published in November 2024 and that of Saint Matthew is scheduled for publication in 2025. Jane is also the author of the adult fantasy trilogy "Return to Faërie", which can be ordered on Amazon.
Born in California, Jane studied fine-art and paleography in the United-States and in Europe. She is a specialist of the Medieval period and of Celtic art.
